The Fourth Watch – 4AM Intercessory Prayer
Join me for The Fourth Watch, a 6-day (Monday-Saturday), 4:00am intercessory prayer journey, where we seek God before the busyness of the day begins. In the stillness of the early morning, we gather to stand in the gap for families, the Church, our communities, and the nations, declaring the purposes of God over this generation. The Fourth Watch, according to Hebrew time keeping is between 03:00-06:00 in the morning. Many Prophets and Intercessors see this as a sacred time, when the world is still, distractions are few, and spiritual sensitivity is high. It is seen as a time is spiritual alertness and divine visitation, implying a time for revelation and divine encounter. It is seen as:
- A Time of Intimacy and Revelation - In Mark 1:35, we see Jesus rising before daybreak to pray in solitude. This example underscores the value of meeting with the Father before the day’s noise and obligations begin. Jesus sought stillness before activity, intimacy before ministry. Early prayer aligns the heart with God’s will and brings direction for the day.
- A Time of Seeking God Earnestly - Psalm 63:1 declares, “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee.” The word “early” in Hebrew (שָׁחַר, shachar) implies seeking diligently and eagerly, not only early in the day but as a priority of the heart. Praying before dawn signifies hunger for God’s presence above all else.
- A Time of Intercession and Repentance - Exodus 32:30 tells us that Moses rose early to intercede for Israel after their sin with the golden calf. The early hours often carry a burden for nations, families, and the church. Prophets and intercessors use this quiet time to stand in the gap, bringing petitions before God while others sleep.
- A Time of Spiritual Sensitivity and Visitation - In the stillness of dawn, distractions fade and spiritual perception heightens. The human spirit becomes more attuned to divine whispers. Many prophets testify to receiving visions, dreams, or direction from God during these hours. Job 33:14–16 affirms that “God speaks… in a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men.”
- A Time of Victory Over Darkness -The fourth watch also represents the transition from night to morning, darkness to light. In Exodus 14:24, during the “morning watch,” the Lord looked down upon the Egyptian army and overthrew them as Israel crossed the Red Sea. Praying between 3–6 AM is thus seen as a prophetic act of claiming victory and breakthrough over darkness, ushering in God’s light and deliverance.
For six consecutive mornings (every week), we will:
- Align our hearts with God at the break of day
- Intercede for breakthroughs, salvations, healing, and restoration
- Pray prophetically over homes, workplaces, leaders, and territories
- Consecrate our day and week to the Lord in worship and surrender
These are not casual moments of prayer, but focused, Spirit-led warfare and intercession, believing that as we seek Him early, He will respond with power, wisdom, and direction.
“O God, You are my God; early will I seek You…” – Psalm 63:1
We invite you to be part of The Fourth Watch and help raise a sound of prayer that shifts atmospheres and ushers in the move of God.
